D.C. Everest offers a broad curriculum designed around 16 Career Clusters that provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests while earning four- and two-year college credits, attaining industry credentials, gaining hands-on classroom experience, and completing work-based learning opportunities prior to graduation.

Our curriculum is designed to help students prepare for a 21st-century career, balance professional and personal responsibilities, and be prepared — at any point in their post-secondary life — to be a successful learner on the job or while attending a two- or four-year college or university.

Xello Help Information

Xello - How Students Share their Profile

In Xello students have the option to generate a shareable link to their profile, which they can use to connect with friends, mentors, and more. Students can also share this link with their parents, who can then view their child’s profile without needing a username and password. It's similar to the shareable link option in Google Docs.

Enabling the Shareable Profile

There are two ways for students to enable the shareable profile from the Student Experience:
On any page in Xello, from the top right corner, students click their avatar and select Share your profile. Or, from beneath their name on the About Me page, students click Share your Profileto open a preview of their shareable profile.
From the top right corner of the profile, students click Share.
From the Share Your Profile window, switch the toggle to ON to get a shareable link.
Students can copy and share the link with parents or other people with whom the student wants to share their Xello profile.

Special Notes:

A unique URL is created when the user turns on the share option. It does not exist until that happens. There is no way to access the profile until this link is activated by the student. The student can also turn the link off.
Turn Off the Shareable Profile - If the student has shared the link with someone and no longer wants to allow access to their profile, they can unshare their profile. This will turn the link off for everyone.
Follow the same steps as above to switch the toggle to OFF.
Caution: If a student turns their profile off and then turns it back on again, a new link will be generated. This is important from a privacy point of view.

The Armed Forces

Students may consider enlisting in the armed forces. Whether it be the Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, or Coast Guard, the opportunities and benefits vary from branch to branch. To compare branches, students should talk to the recruiters who visit the high school on a regular basis. Information is also available in the Student Services Office.

Student and District Demographics

The D.C. Everest Area School District proudly serves approximately 5900 students each school year. In addition to several 4-K sites throughout the community, the district consists of (6) K-5 Elementary Schools, (1) Middle School for grades 6-7, (1) Junior High School for grades 8-9, and (1) comprehensive High School for grades 10-12. Providing students and their families flexible options for learning, our district also has one K-5 Multiage school as well as the IDEA Charter School for students in grades 6-12.

During the 2016-17 school year, 28.6% of D.C. Everest students were considered economically disadvantaged.

In terms of race/ethnicity, while the majority of the student population is Caucasian, the area is becoming increasingly diverse. The graph below shows the student enrollment trends by race/ethnicity for the 5-year span from the 2012-13 school year to the 2016-17 school year.

Community Demographics

The D.C. Everest Area School district is comprised of residents from numerous communities including: the City of Schofield, the Villages of Hatley, Weston, Kronenwetter and Rothschild, Townships of Easton, Ringle, Norrie, Reid and Weston, and part of the City of Wausau. The largest community by population is the Village of Weston with approximately 15,000 residents.

Over 64 percent of the population lives within Marathon County’s ten most populous municipalities, with over 40 percent of residents living in the city of Wausau and the village of Weston. From the 2010 Census to early 2015, the village of Weston had the greatest increase with a gain of 408 residents. The village of Kronenwetter experienced the greatest proportional increase with a gain of 4.4 percent. The city of Wausau experienced a slight decrease in the number of residents.

Local Labor Market Projections

While Marathon County and the state of Wisconsin as a whole have low unemployment rates, they face a quantity challenge, leading to what is known as the skills gap. There are not enough workers to meet the demand employers need in order to expand operations.

The Trade, Transportation, & Utilities; Manufacturing; and Education & Health Services sectors have the largest shares of jobs in Marathon County. Together, these sectors accounted for over 66 percent of jobs in 2014. From 2013-2014, the Education & Health Services sector saw the greatest increase with a gain of 1,720 jobs, a 13.4 percent increase.

The average household income of Marathon County falls within the range of $68,000 to $82,999.

Have You Considered Any Non-Traditional Occupations?

A non-traditional occupation is a career field in which 75% or more of the people who hold the occupation are from one particular gender. An example of a non-traditional occupation would be a female working as an electrician or a male working as a nurse. With employers facing workforce shortages, be sure to consider all career pathways!

Perhaps the best way for you to decide if a career field is right for you would be to gain some experience through carefully selecting your elective classes and getting involved in student organizations that interest you most. Rest assured, the D.C.
